Dear Alpine Community,
It’s been a busy start to the season with resorts receiving some great top ups of snow and more terrain being opened. All the clubs are up and running with excited athletes training across all our resorts. At the end of June, I had the opportunity to present some coach education at Perisher to their development coaches who work with aspiring athletes at the beginning of the pathway. It was great to connect with these new coaches and discuss and share ideas of how we can best upskill our future athletes.
In the first week of July, I travelled to Mt Buller to work alongside MBRC coaches to take part in their skills assessments on-hill over 4 days and we also provided a Snow Australia presentation for parents and athletes to increase education around the pathway and Child Safe policies. MBRC had a good turnout for the presentation, even if it was a day off for athletes, and I would like to thank all those that attended.

I am looking forward to being on snow with TSRC this coming weekend to assist the coaching staff in running a skills assessment and taking time to work with different athlete and coaching groups. The following weekend I will be looking to spend time with Thredbo Mountain Academy and work with coaches and athletes to better understand the importance of skill development and how best to incorporate this into their daily training environments in a fun and challenging way.
Hopefully the cold weather continues, and more snow is on its way throughout July. Towards the end of the month and into August I look forward to travelling over to both Falls Creek and Mt Hotham to spend time with their athletes, coaches, and community.
Enjoy the skiing and I will see you all out on the slopes in the coming weeks and months!
