Dear Snowboard Community,
Welcome to winter!
Following an incredibly successful northern winter which saw outstanding results at all levels from our snowboard athletes (read the season wrap here) we are excited that opening weekend is less than two weeks away.
For those that will be in and around Jindabyne on the opening weekend, do not forget to head down to the Jindabyne Snow Sale to pick up a bargain. This year the Jindabyne Snow Sale will be operated by The Rob Kneller Youth Foundation with all funds raised from the Snow Sale subsidising the cost of school skiing for Jindabyne Central School and Snowy Mountains Grammar School students in years K-2. Click here for more information.
Also, don't forget to join Snow Australia or renew your membership before the 2023 season begins. By joining now will ensure you are kept up to date with the latest event information and you can quickly and easily register or enter. Click here to join Snow Australia for 2023.
After a very successful debut last year the FIS JNR SBX Series returns in 2023 along with the valued support of the Chumpy Pullin Foundation. More information on the Series is available in this update with registrations for the first event in Thredbo now open.
Alongside the dates for FIS JNR SBX Series we are also pleased to confirm the dates for the SBX Futures and ANC races at Mt Hotham. This is one of the premier weeks of snowboard activity in the Australian mountains and we are very excited to bring all levels of the Snowboard pathway together again this year. Thanks to Mt Hotham and the Chumpy Pullin Foundation for their onoing support of these events. More information and entries will be available shortly, so please keep an eye on the Snow Australia Futures webpage for updates.
Congratulations to the recently announced Emerging Talent Program (ETP) cohort for the 2023 season. This program is a great initiative with members of the program coming together for their first camp of the season at the NSTC Jindabyne this weekend. It is a great opportunity for participants to train, learn and be mentored ahead of the southern winter.
Although opening weekend is only two weeks away it's still not too late to start getting physically prepared for the season with the SnowReady program. Hosted by 3x Olympian Sami Kennedy-Sim, SnowReady is a fantastic, free program that will prepare snowboarders (and skiers) at all levels for the season ahead. SnowReady is available on the Snow Australia website, click here to access the program.
We wish you all the best for the season ahead and look forward to keeping you up to date with Snowboard news and activity throughout the season. This year the Snowboard Updates will see a series of guest contributors introducing the updates each month providing a unique insight into different areas of the pathway.
Good luck and all the best for the season.
