Freestyle Community Update - March 2024

Dear Freestyle Community,

Ok if you thought things couldn’t get better since the last Freestyle Community Update hold the phone…. Jakara Anthony has not only beaten the record of most World Cup wins in a season in 11, she has made it 13 wins with one event still to go this weekend! Truly remarkable not only as an Australian sport story but a global one. Speaking of globes, Jakara has as a result won the Single Mogul, Dual Mogul and Overall Mogul FIS Crystal globes. Go get em this weekend at the World Cup Dual mogul final event in Valmalenco Italy Jak. With Dual moguls now part of the Olympic program in 2026, Dual mogul strategies, speed and skills are being finely tuned.

Dani Scott with a second place in the last World Cup in Kazakhstan has secured back-to-back Crystal globes for Aerials. Dani Scott now joins Australian skiing legends Jacqui Cooper, Alisa Camplin and Laura Peel to have won back-to-back Aerial Skiing Crystal Globes. This is a huge achievement for Dani and her team. The season saw Dani podium in 5 out of 6 World Cup events.

Add to that this World Cup season has seen mogul podiums to Matt Graham and Copper Woods and an Aerial World Cup podium to Abbey Wilcox. Just amazing.

Another highlight of the season was Lottie Lodge winning a Silver Medal at the Youth Olympics in Korea. Some great performances highlighted by George Murphys two podiums.

Plans are now in place for water ramp, on snow spring camps and Strength and Conditioning programming across out entire pathway from OWIA, NSWIS, Snow Aus ETP and Club programs.

We encourage our club program families and Interschools competitors to reach out to your club programs for your chance to take part in some fun water ramp camp activities this spring. Water ramp is not only great fun training with your friends but super valuable in being able to safely learn how to spin and flip on skis before being cleared to safely take them to snow.

All the best,

David Speirs
Freestyle Committee Chair
