Southern Interclub Champions

Published Fri 07 Jun 2024

Well done to the Parsons Energised team, made up of Ben Hudson, Charlie Greenwood, Darren Cowen, and Tony Smith for winning the 2024 Autumn Southern Interclub Pennant.

With line 4s going on first, Gaye Mitchell used her years of experience to come from 2-1 down against Tony Smith to win in 5 sets, with super-sub Tim Melsom lifting his game to subsequently defeat line 3 opponent, and squash veteran, Michael Brown. Joshua Woodward had a flying start, and despite a few hiccups in the 2nd set (coming back from 14-11 down) he cleaned up in 3 sets, leaving Ashank Gupta needing to get 1 game off Tasmanian #2 player Ben Hudson. This unfortunately proved to be too much for the Eastside #1 Junior player, with Ben's clear PSA experience showing through as he won comfortably in 3 sets and securing the title for the Parsons team.
