4. SCORING

Open and Handicap Divisions:

  1. 4.1  The low point scoring system will apply for each heat.

  2. 4.2  An entrant who starts a heat but does not complete it, will score one more point than the last

    finisher.

  3. 4.3  For each heat not sailed, an entrant will score one more point than the last finisher.

  4. 4.4  The five (5) lowest scores for each participant will count to their final score.

  5. 4.5  Should a participant be prevented from sailing a heat due to Government health restrictions, such

as Covid 19 travel restrictions, they will be awarded average points determined from the four (4) lowest scores they have achieved during the series. These points will be calculated and awarded after the last heat of the series.

  6. 4.6  Participants will be eliminated from progressive results when the number of heats left in the series will not enable them to participate in three (3) heats during the series.

  7. 4.7  The final series score for each participant will be the five (5) lowest scores, less a point for each heat sailed in excess of five (5) heats, which may include a heat where average points have been awarded. For example, a participant sailing 8 heats and having been awarded average points for 1 heat, would be deemed to have sailed 9 heats, and therefore have 4 points deducted from their final score to determine their final series score.

  8. 4.8  A minimum of 3 races must be sailed to declare the series a State Championship.

5. PRIZE LIST*

Open 1st to 3rd, including a Perpetual Trophy Handicap 1st to 3rd, including a Perpetual Trophy

* An entrant who receives a prize for first place in the Open division will not be eligible for any prize on Handicap.
