OCTOBER 2021 NEWSLETTER

MEASUREMENT DAY.  A Measurement Day will be scheduled prior to the NSW State Championship.  The date and details will be advised by email.  Please note, there will be no measuring available at the championship.

THIS SEASON’S SPIRAL SAILING PROGRAM.  At the last Committee meeting last week the CRSC Marathon on 30 October was open to everyone, but the following day the rules changed so at the time of writing the first event of the Traveller’s Trophy (T.T.) will now only be available to those in Greater Sydney.   The NOR for the CRSC Marathon is distributed with this newsletter.

At this stage, the ACT Dinghy Championship is on the 13-14 November with the Spiral T.T. being on the 13th.

The NSW State Championship at Oak Flats listed 27-28 November should be open to everyone.  Camping should be available and details will be advised when known.  The Championship entry fees will be the same as last year ($80 entry fee, $25 late fee, Juniors free, non-member additional fee of $30). Three (3) races will constitute a series.

The Jervis Bay October Long Weekend Regatta was cancelled due to the lockdowns.  The Spiral TT Heat 1 has been rescheduled to March 26 at Jervis Bay Sailing Club.

The updated Spiral Sailing Program is on the website. Of course, subject to regulation changes!

Spiral Travellers Trophy Notice of Series (NOS) has been prepared, published on the website and distributed with this newsletter.  Included in the NOS is the scoring system used for the TT Series.  The Spiral TT Series is the only Spiral series that runs for the whole season with a diverse range of sailing conditions you can only enjoy by travelling to them.  Participant, be challenged and improve.

RULE CHANGE.  Notice is hereby given that there will be a proposal at the AGM in January for spar measurements to be listed in Imperial measurements as well as Metric measurements as we may have to source some spars measured in Imperial.  (Yes. Some parts of the world are still in Imperial!)

WEBSITE.  Keep checking the website for heaps of good information and second hand boats for sale, and mention it to your sailing friends who are missing out on life by not sailing a Spiral.  We are also keen to see older Spirals listed for sale as there is always a demand for old cheaper boats so if you know someone with one who is not sailing it, please suggest they put it on the website.

The appearance of the website will change towards the end of October. RevSports (who create the framework of the website) are enhancing the platform so that it will be more functional on small devices such as smartphones. Some of the graphics and photos may disappear however hopefully we can customise it soon after it rolls over.
