New August 2023 Newsletter

Published Wed 16 Aug 2023

It is already well into August and the new season starts next month! So get the sailing brain into gear and check out the coming season program which is on the website. Pop those dates into your diary or phone so you do not miss any of the events and the chance to get together with the Spiral Clan.

MEMBERSHIP. We have held the fee at the same price as last year, just to keep Phil Lowe happy so now the RBA will not have to raise interest rates to stem inflation. Details will come in September.

AGE DIVISIONS. Thank you to all those who have talked to committee members and following considerable discussion the new age divisions are on the website, under ‘Documents and Notices.’ The aim is to even out the numbers in each division over the next few years.

MASTERS GAMES. Now ten Spiral sailors are planning to make the trip to Adelaide in October, straight after the Jervis Bay Regatta. I am sure they will all return with great memories. If you want to join them, have a chat to any of them. Email Renee Rawson at reneerawson@ymail.com and she can add you to the AMG TEAM SPIRAL email chat with Andrew Hardman, Grae Baker, Grahame Tindall, John Franklin, Peter Eslick, Peter Newman, Tim Moors, Tim Vandervoort, Renee Rawson and Jeff Conly.

BOATS FOR SALE. As mentioned in the last newsletter, there is a good range of used Spirals for sale. Boat 882 was added this week – a good chance to get your non-Spiral friends into the class.

NEW SAILS MESSAGE FROM Mark McConnel. Hi fellow CRSC Spiral sailors.

North Sails are once again offering a 15% off group buy for new sail orders placed before the end of August. A 50% deposit is required on order and the balance due before delivery.

The discounted price is 654.50 incl GST. Current RRP of the sail is $770. On the 1st of September Retail prices will increase by 5%.

It’s about the same as last year’s deal organised through Peter Eslick. The good news is that we don’t need any minimum quantities.

If you want to be included, please let me know preferably via email with your sail number and whether you need a light/medium or a medium/heavy. North’s recommendation is 70kg as the cut over point.

I’ll let you know how to pay. They will of course accept full payment on order if you don’t want to deal with multiple payments.
