Peter Loft marathon at BYRA on Sunday, May 1st. Le Mans start time is 1200. Be early for parking which is hard to get at this popular event. Presentation of the TT trophies and prizes will be on the deck after the Marathon Presentation and the sausage sizzle. The NOR for the Peter Loft Marathon is on the website.

NOTICE OF RACE
For
Peter Loft (Annual Fund Raising) Marathon
Sunday 8th May 2022
For Off The Beach Boats (Le Mans type) start at 12 Noon
This event is organized by Bayview Yacht Racing Association (BYRA) to commemorate the untimely death of one of its most promising young sailors, Peter Loft, and to raise funds (via entry fees) for the Peter Loft Foundation which is established to assist junior members of BYRA participate in National and International sailing events.
- Rules
- This regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing.
- All boats shall comply with Sailing Australia Special Regulations Part 1 and 2.
- Eligibility and Entry
- Subject to safety considerations and at the Race Committee desertion, the regatta is open to all off the beach centreboard craft. Entries will be divided into three divisions in accordance with the current Victorian Yardstick for Monohulls as follows: -
Division 1. Yardstick 113.5 and below.
For example, skiffs; 29er; 49er; 420; 470; 505; B14; Cherub; Moth; NS14; Laser Full Rig; Finn: Taser: etc.
Division 2 Yardstick greater than 113.5 and up to 145.0
For example; Laser Radial; Laser 4.7; Heron; Mirror; Pacer; Spiral; Flying 11; etc.
Division 3 Yardstick greater than 145.0
For example; Optimist; Sabot; PJ; MJ; etc.
In cases where an entry does not have a published yardstick, the Race Committee will assign a yardstick for this event.
Eligible boats may enter by completing the entry form, together with the required entry fee, found on the BYRA web (https://www.byra.com.au/events/), by 23:45 AM on 7th May 2022.
3 Entry Fee
The Entry Fee is:-
Dinghy helmed by a Senior (over 18) $40
Dinghy helmed by a Junior (under 18) $30
- Sailing Instructions
Sailing Instructions will be provided in the form of a briefing at 11.00 AM on the day of the race.
- Courses
Courses for the three divisions shall be determined by the Race Committee, prior to the briefing on race day, using fixed marks in Pittwater and, weather permitting, Lion Island for Division 1.
- Time Limit
A time limit will apply to all Division. At 14:00 a boat(s) authorised by the Race Committee and flying a BYRA pennant, and a “S” flag will indicate by sound sign that any competitor who is yet to reach their turning mark shall turn and return to the club.
- Safety Regulations
All boats must comply with SA Special Regulations Part 2.
- Prizes
Prizes will be awarded to the winner on yardstick corrected time of each division. Additional prizes may be awarded, at the discretion of the Race Committee, depending on the number of entries in each division and/or number of entries in any individual class.
- Disclaimer of Liability
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. BYRA will not accept liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during or after the regatta.
- Insurance
Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of $10,000,000 per incident/event or the equivalent.
