SP Breast Cancer Fundraiser Round
Event information
On July 31st it is the annual cancer awareness round, it started over 15 years ago when we sadly lost one of our lovely ladies to breast cancer (Jo Burling) she was a lovely lady that was an amazing hockey player- once she stepped over the line she played with all her heart and left absolutely nothing in the tank (the true spencer way) but once that whistle went she came off smiling and shaking hands and of course had a bevie at the bar! We dedicate the whole day now to 'cancer awareness' The day starts with 2 of our Junior teams playing in the morning followed by our 2 B grade ladies play the derby at 1:45pm, 'Kel York Memorial game' another lady of our wonderful club taken far to early. A grade ladies then play straight after 'Jo Burling match' which is always against North Albany' as Jo had a good rivalry with them. The men play straight after supporting the cause in pink socks. It's really important to all come together as a club and celebrate the day and the two wonderful ladies that were a part of our club. All money raised on the day goes to local community groups helping families with there cancer journey.
The club is open to everyone to come and enjoy the day
