Athletics NSW Events will not return until the Monday after the NSW population reaches the 80% vaccination mark. (whenever that is)

Athletics NSW have advised that as the state governing body, they cannot endorse any club activity until the state of NSW reaches the 80% threshhold point.
The guidelines for exercise and recreation at the 70% vaccination milestone only apply to informal settings, not organised community sport (i.e. club training and competition).

In practical terms, a group of 20 fully vaccinated people could arrange to exercise together, but clubs cannot be operational, and participants will not be afforded any of the protections associated with their membership (i.e. insurance) by Athletics NSW.

South Sydney Senior Athletics Club are still waiting on further advice from athletics NSW AND the Office of Sport,in relation to the return to community sport, and we will forward any additional details on when available.

In the meantime, here are some important updates for you.

1. We estimate that registrations will open on Monday, 18 October.
2. Active Kids, set up for acceptance of the Active Kids voucher applies to clubs who have school age members. There are a large number of clubs that don't have the Active Kids redemption functionality will be  activated in the revSport portal for lS.S.S.A.C.. Active Kids vouchers can only be redeemed by the athlete at the point of registration.

When NSW reaches 80% full vaccination

From the Monday after NSW hits the 80% (aged 16 and over) double-dose vaccination target, eased restrictions will allow those who are fully vaccinated to have:

  • up to 10 people visit their home
  • participate in community sport
  • no person limit in hospitality settings, density limits apply (takeaway only for people who are not fully vaccinated).

All premises will operate at 1 person per 4sqm indoors and 1 person per 2sqm outdoors.

People under the age of 16 who are not fully vaccinated are allowed unaccompanied in their workplaces and all outdoor settings, but must be with a fully vaccinated member of their household in hospitality venues (unless collecting takeaways), entertainment facilities,
major recreation facilities and places of worship.
