South Sydney Athletes from yesteryear

This album contains photos sent to South Sydney by friends, relatives and athleteds of yesteryear.


Rae Gooch who is the  child of a former South Sydney athlete who competed in the 1940's provided pict 1 & 2 . The pictures are of Arthur Farthing who was competing at the Braybrook Cup . The event was held in 1941 or thereabouts.

Arthur Farthing  is pictured on the right hand side of the 2nd photograph........take note of what the original South Sydney Senior singlets and uniform looked like.

Picture three is provided by bob Prichard and shows 3 South Sydney Harrier athletes, left to right  Roley Bateman, Oliver awson & Frank Flanagan preparing to run as part of an 11 member NSW team in the Victorian Cross country championships at Maribyrnyong. Picture 4 is a newspaper clipping of the results from that event
