Junior Development Overview:

The opportunity exists for junior players to participate in a skill building, fun, Tuesday Night Junior Program, or take the next step to advanced group and individual coaching with the aim of State Team selection.  While hundreds of children have enjoyed Southern's junior program over the years, quite a few have also decided to escalate their training and involvement and achieve State Team selection, and in some cases go on to represent Australia.

Southern Table Tennis is both a Sports Voucher provider and a Sporting Schools registered provider. Primary school students (and years 7, 8 & 9 students) can gain excellent value in using their $100 Sports Voucher and obtain a whole school term free coaching. Southern's accredited coaches have already delivered Sporting Schools coaching programs to some 25 Primary schools and are available to accommodate any future school coaching requests.

Tuesday Night Junior Program

These sessions are a fun introduction to table tennis using a combination of free play, coaching and assorted games.  They are suitable for children over 8 years old and of all standards.  We offer one come and try session for free.  The cost is then $10 per session and you may use the school 'Sports Voucher' system.

Term programs provide players with a mix of coaching and playing a few matches in round robin groups. Several coaches will be in attendance to provide a degree of personalised attention to all junior players. For those not ready to commence playing matches, a fun form of coaching / skill development will be provided across the session. The Tuesday Night Junior Program offers 2 session, the first at 6.00 > 7.00 pm for the younger juniors (stadium open for a warmup from 5.30 pm), and at 7.30pm > 8.30 pm (warmup from 7.00 pm) for the older under 12 to 19 year old juniors. Parents are welcome to have a hit with their children during the warmup period. Loan bats provided. The registration form is appended below.

Good News!    In addition to primary school students, years 7, 8 & 9 students can use one of their two annual Sports Voucher allocation of $100.00 (with a payment of $80.00) to obtain the 'Junior Starter Package' which includes the 10 week term program, a Southern polo top, Butterfly bat and bat cover. Great value.

Good News! You have'nt heard?  In 2025 students mentioned above will have access to 2 x $100 Sports Vouchers each calendar year.
