Adult Learn to Sail Keelboats is our introductory sailing course for adults and families. The course runs through the Australian Sailing Course Syllabus for Start Crewing and Helming.
Our courses are run by Australian Sailing accredited coaches and aim to deliver a fun, on-water experience while teaching the fundamental skills of sailing. We have designed our Step 1 course in a way that allows participants to experience the thrill of sailing across all roles in our club-owned fleet of BW8s.

Families, please note the minimum age of 15. Sailors under 18 will be required to have an onboard parent.
Course Overview
The first step on the Keelboat pathway introduces you to the basics of sailing on a small keelboat, including boat handling, safety and sailing theory. In the combined course, you will also experience and develop the theory and practical skills to confidently take control on the helm.

Water confident.
Who should do this course?
This course is designed for participants who wish to begin sailing in a keelboat. Learn the basics of crewing and helming, whilst staying relatively dry! All the equipment and gear will be provided by your accredited Discover Sailing Centre.
Course Outcome
You will gain your Start Crewing and Start Helming completion certificate.
