Are you interested in attending the Hong Kong Gay Games 2023 and competing in badminton as part of the Shuttle Swingers Women's Badminton Club for LGBTIQ & Allies? We are seeking expressions of interest from badminton players who are passionate about the sport and excited to be a part of this international event.

 

The Hong Kong Gay Games 2023 will take place in November 2023 and everyone is welcome to participate in the Gay Games regardless of ethnicity, religion, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, ability, or background. The minimum age to participate is 18 years old.

Badminton is one of the featured sports, and we are looking for female players who are interested in representing our community as part of the Shuttle Swingers in this category.

 

CATEGORIES / DIVISIONS

Whether you are an experienced badminton player or a newcomer to the sport, we welcome all skill levels to register their interest. Women's and mixed divisions are available, and players can choose from a range of ability divisions, including:

• A (International, National, and Regional)
• B+ (Competitive)
• B- (Intermediate)
• C+ (Recreational with competition experience)
• C (Recreational with little competition experience)
• C- (Recreational with no competition experience)

If you are interested in playing in a particular ability division, please indicate your preference when filling out the registration form. We will do our best to accommodate your preferences while ensuring a fair and competitive environment for all players.

Schedule

• Sunday, November 5 – Thursday, November 9. Consists of 2 days of pools and 3 days of competition.

The following Tournaments will be organised:

• Men’s and Women’s Singles
• Men’s, Women’s and Mixed Doubles

Tournament Format: Two sessions, Preliminary Rounds & Final Rounds in each category Round Robin

Cost

At a very high level, it is currently estimated that the trip cost will be in the vicinity of $3,000 to $3,500, this is indicative only and includes flights, accommodation (based on 5 nights), and event entry ($112 general fee for registration + sports entry fee for badminton).

However, it does not include meals, land transport, merchandise, etc.

 

In addition to players, we are also seeking supporters and volunteers to help with liaison work, organisation, and other aspects of the event.
