SCR Trail Series - Event 3 - Nethercote Falls & Pambula Goldfields
Details
Event information
***SCR MEMBERS ONLY EVENT***
The SCR are continuing the Trail Series to provide an opportunity for any novice to seasoned runner / walker a chance to experience, in a group environment, some of the many amazing bush trails our local area has to offer.
The series is conducted over four trail events, with the third event taking place at 8am on the 23rd of June 2024, from the Nethercote Falls picnic area.
For event 3, participants will choose to complete the approximately 3, 6km or 12km course. All courses may be a little more challenging (hilly) than the previous two trail series courses held over the last couple of months.
Interested participants must register and entry is free for members.
The event will have a timekeeper and the results will be recorded. Saying this however, a strong emphasis will be on participation. So, whether you want to walk or run over the shorter or the longer distance, the aim will be to get as many participants to join in the experience of running or walking on some of our awesome local trails.
All courses start at the Nethercote Falls picnic area and are on fire trails/dirt roads. The 3km course is an out and back course, while both 6km & 12km courses are loop courses.
Parking is available at the Nethercote Falls picnic area, Pipeclay Rd, off Back Creek Rd, Nethercote (Nethercote Falls is approx. 13km from Pambula). Look for the signs. There is about 1.5km of dirt road on Pipeclay Rd to the picnic area which is suitable for 2wd cars, but if your car is very low you may wish to carpool in another car.
Note that there is a toilet and picnic tables at this venue.
If you want to visit the falls after the event for a look or a refreshing dip, there is a good (albeit steep) 800m trail to the river and the falls.
There are no mandatory gear requirements for the event. However, you might like to bring a full water bottle, food, mobile phone, compression bandage/s or anything else you feel you might need for your distance.
The aim will be to get everyone at the start by 7.45am for check-in and safety brief, before the 8am start.
If you’re interested or going, please register, we’d love to see you there 😊
This is the third event in the Quad Crown Competition - Members who have competed in all four of the trail events held throughout the year are eligible for a prize awarded at the end 🤩👏🎉🎁
