Welcome to Sandringham Life Saving Club's Silver Salties program!
The Silver Salties 'Be Confident Swimming in the Bay' class is all about enjoyment, fitness and social interaction with like-minded people in a safe and welcoming environment.
Our Swimming classes are intended for swimmers of all levels and are designed to help build confidence to swim in Open Water (in the Bay). The swim sessions will be hosted by Peter Hendriks. Peter’s goal is to educate swimmers on how to enjoy swimming as an activity where each person can swim efficiently at whatever speed they choose to swim at, either for performance or pleasure. There is no better excerise as we age because swimming in non-weight-bearing and is friendly on the joints!
The Silver Salties swimming session will run every Wednesday morning at 12pm during the season. The swim sessions will be held in front of the Sandringham Life Saving Club. Sessions are subject to cancellation due to water quality assessment guidelines determined by Sandringham Life Saving Club, under guidance from the EPA and Life Saving Victoria, in consultation with Peter Hendriks from Swimwell.
All attendees must pre-register to ensure they are covered by our insurance. Participants are required to bring their own bathers, towel, cap and goggles. A wetsuit is optional if you have one. Bring something warm to change into afterwards and a water bottle.
