Tasmanian Sailing Community Celebrates Award Winners
The first to announce their 2024 State Sailing Awards winners, Tasmania hosted their annual Awards evening on Saturday 7 September at the beautiful Tasmanian Maritime Museum.
More than 100 people from our sailing community came together in Hobart to celebrate those outstanding members who contribute so much to make the sport what it is.
Among those recognised were Alice Buchanan (Derwent Sailing Squadron) and Nick Rogers (Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania) who received the coveted Female and Male Sailor of the Year awards respectively.
Tasmanian Sailing icon Chris Symonds (Wynyard Yacht Club) was announced as the Para Sailor of the year, and will now be put forward for national judging where he will be in the running for his sixth national title in a row in the corresponding division.
The Lifetime Achievement award went to the entirely deserving Ron Bugg (Derwent Sailing Squadron) for a wonderful and continuing career.
Australian Sailing offers our sincerest congratulations to all those recognised at the 2024 Tasmanian Sailing Awards.
