'Kids on Yachts' Event - Drummoyne SC

Every year before Christmas, Drummoyne Sailing Club holds its annual ‘Kids on Yachts’ event, where Drummoyne Sailing Club Yachts invite the juniors for a twilight sail. The event was launched four years ago to bridge the gap between off-the-beach sailors and yacht sailors. Initially, the event was aimed at getting kids on yachts but has evolved into welcoming anyone who would like to go on a yacht, matching experienced yacht sailors with beginner sailors. Parents are also invited to come out on the start boat. 

Since it’s around Christmas time, the theme is for yachts to be dressed up in Christmas decorations with many of the crews having Santas on board, and then race around the islands. This year they had 10 juniors from various classes sailing on the yachts. After sailing, they all returned to the club for a festive meal of fresh prawns, chicken, and ham. Followed by a presentation where the best-dressed yachts were awarded a Christmas ham. This is a great way for junior and adult members to unite as a whole club.
