Instructors in Focus: Dinghy Instructors
Becoming a Dinghy Instructor is an exciting opportunity to enjoy sailing and contribute to grow our sport community.
Dinghy Instructors use thrilling mono or multi-hull vessels which can be sailed single-handed or by a small crew. Dinghies represent an ideal platform to safely learn to sail as well as to start racing.
Course participants can be kids registering for the Tackers program (7-12 years old), teenagers attending the OutThere Sailing program (12-17 years old) and adults enrolling to the Dinghy program (12 years old and over).
Dinghy Instructors mainly focus on teaching the basic sailing skills and theory notions thanks to an exhilarating mix of on and off water activities. Dinghy Instructors wanting to teach upper-level dinghy courses can apply to become Dinghy Racing Instructors to develop participant racing abilities to compete with other boats.
Accredited Discover Sailing Centres use only Australian Sailing qualified Dinghy Instructors to deliver their Tackers, OutThere Sailing and Dinghy courses. This enables participants to learn effectively in a safe and enjoyable environment. For participants, instructors are the face of the Centre they work for and substantially influence customer retention and satisfaction. Behind successful Centres there are always successful Instructors!
