Anti-Doping for Athletes and Coaches

Published Fri 14 Oct 2022

All athletes competing in sailing, their coaches and support personnel are recommended to do training to understand how they can reduce the risk of anti-doping rule violations, either deliberate or inadvertent. Some training will help them understand how to protect the health and wellbeing of sailors, and uphold the integrity of sailing in Australia.

There are three relevant courses available from Sport Integrity Australia. These are Anti-Doping Fundamentals and Annual Update and the Coaches Course.

The Anti-Doping Fundamentals will explain the rules designed to protect athletes’ rights to participate in sport free of performance enhancing drugs. It’s anti-doping that keeps sport fair and keeps the playing field level and completing the course will help you understand what substances or methods are banned in sport.

The Annual Update is for athletes and support personnel who need to stay up to date on the latest integrity information and is updated annually to reflect current trends in anti-doping. A pre-requisite for this course is the successful completion of Anti-Doping Fundamentals course.

The Coaches Course provides anti-doping knowledge tailored to the important role coaches play in their athletes' lives. A pre-requisite for this course is the successful completion of Anti-Doping Fundamentals course.

To participate in any of the courses, register on Sport Integrity Australia’s e-learning system and peruse their catalogue of courses. Athletes, coaches and support personnel will finish the courses much better informed about why the Improper Use of Drugs and Medicines Policy matters.
