Scoring in Australia has an unprecedented reputation that demonstrates current best practice worldwide. This is measured by the ongoing demand for Australian scorers at international competitions. Softball Australia's accreditation program enhances the skills of scorers and educators of scoring and ensures Australia continues to lead the world in softball scoring directives and initiatives.

PATHWAY FOR SCORING ACCREDITATION

The accreditation pathway comprises of four levels that focus on the technical competency teaching all components of scoring in an effort to better educate scorers and provide a guided pathway for advancement.

Level 1 - Basic Scoring for Beginning Scorers

Level 1 Scoring is designed to introduce participants to the basics of scoring required for entry-level competition, including school and junior level softball. There are no prerequisites to complete the course. Candidates are required to achieve a 75% pass mark on the written exam. Candidates will also perform a practical simulation and assessors will review the performance and provide advice and assistance as required.

Level 2 - Complete Scoring for Club and Association Scorers

Level 2 provides the scorer with the knowledge to perform the duties of a club or association scorer while advancing their skill in scoring. Scorers wishing to sit this course and exam must have successfully attained their Level 1 scoring accreditation. Candidates will be required to complete bench lists for the teams and to competently score one 7 innings A Grade standard regulation game.

Level 3 - Complete Scoring for Club and Association Scorers

Scorers wishing to sit the Level 3 course and exam must have successfully attained their Level 2 scoring accreditation. Candidates will be required to complete bench lists for the teams and to competently score one 7 innings A Grade standard regulation game.

Level 4 - Advanced Scoring and Statistics for State and National Championship Statisticians

Level 4 accreditation is a requirement for acting as an official statistician at Australian National Fastpitch Championships. The assessment includes scoring of two regulation 7 inning games, combined with compilation of all extensions and statistics. Examination games are assessed by the NSC marking sub-committee.
