Course information
Course Overview
Tackers is a program designed by Australian Sailing aimed at introducing sailing to kids in a fun and safe way. Kids don't need to have any sailing experience or club membership to participate, but they must be able to confidently swim 50 metres. Boats and life jackets are provided by the club, and more information about what food and clothes to bring will be given after registration.
There are three levels for kids to progress through. Tackers 1 is about having fun and feeling comfortable in a boat, and is designed for those with little to no experience. Tackers 2 is for kids who have completed the Tackers 1 course (this may require more than one camp to practice the skills learnt in Tackers 1). Tackers 2 is about tricks and techniques for better, easier sailing. Tackers 3 is the final level of Tackers and is all about learning to sail fast and perform more advanced manoeuvres.
