The Dinghy Training Squads Program provides coaching and racing sessions for sailors in Optimists (Transition Fleet (Club boat), Green Fleet and Open), Lasers (Development (Club boat available) and Performance) in 4.7, Radial and Full Rig, and Pacers (Club boat).
The Optimist Squad - Green Fleet (incorporating Transition Green Fleet) is suitable for sailors who have completed the Tackers 'Learn to Sail' Program, whilst the Optimist Squad - Open Fleet is best suited to sailors who are confident on the water in their own boat. RSYS Coaches will advise when sailors are ready to progress up. The Laser Squad is for those sailors who have moved on from the Optimist and/or Pacer and are looking for the next step along their sailing pathway. Sailors can also enter the Laser Squad as a beginner in the 'Development' program. The Pacer Squad is a new initiative launched by the Squadron and focuses on developing sailors skills in a double-handed social class. Sailors have Club dinghies provided in the Pacer Squad. It is a great entry point for sailors coming out the OutThere Teen Sailing courses.
For adults who would like to get into sailing, the Laser 'Development' fleet is a great entry point into the program, with a no-pressure environment that focuses on fun, skills, and safety. A Club Laser can be utilised for an additional cost of $50 per day or $150 per week.
Sailors need to be financial members to be a part of the program (including Laser Development Fleet). Sailors (U18) with a Parent/Grandparent RSYS Member will receive the 'Discounted' season pricing. Please contact us for more information about membership. If you are a parent registering for your child, you MUST register with your child's details not your own.
