Learn to Sail Lasers at RSYS

Course information
While this is a very beginner course and is designed for people who have never sailed dinghys before, it is not a learn to sail course. You are expected to have basic level of competency and know such items as:
- Points of Sail
- Sailing terms
- Sailing rules: Port/Starboard and Windward/Leeward etc.
- Basic sail control and sail trim
- Wind awareness
Dates: 18th July - 15th August
Times: 1200 arrival - 1500 packed up
Aim: To teach the fundamentals of dinghy sailing, specifically the Laser dinghy. Correct body positions, boat handling techniques and boat and sail setup. We will also cover correct rigging and boat care as well as utilising sail controls to create an optimal sail shape.
Dress: Wetsuits, Gloves and Boots are all strongly recommended. RSYS can provide lifejackets.
Boats will be provided by RSYS and charter is included in the enrolment fee.

Who should do this course?
This course is designed for participants who wish to begin sailing in a dinghy. All the equipment and gear will be provided by your accredited Discover Sailing Centre.
Course Outcome
You will gain your Start Sailing Intro completion certificate.
We recognise that some of our course participants are completing the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award and may be using sailing and/or club membership to complete one or more sections of The Award. To learn more, click here.
