RQYS Sailing Academy Youth Training Programs: Expression of Interest - Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron - revolutioniseSPORT

Welcome back to Green Fleet training and to new members! 

Term Dates:

  • Green Fleet Optimists: Sundays, 6th October - 15th December 2024
  • Green Fleet Quests Racing Squad: Saturdays, 5th October - 30th November2024

Note: There will be no training on the following dates:

  • Green Fleet Optimists: 13th October and 1st December 2024
  • Green Fleet Quest Racing: 12th October 2024

 

Session Times:

  • Green Fleet Optimists: Sunday mornings 08:30 - 11:30 hrs
  • Green Fleet Quest Racing Squad: Saturday mornings 08:30 - 11:30 hrs

Please ensure your sailor is rigged and changed by the start times. Coaches will be available before the sessions for any questions.

Costs:

  • Green Fleet Optimists: $235 (Boat Hire NOT Included)
  • Green Fleet Quest Racing: $235 (Boat Hire Included)

Please Note:

  • In case weather conditions aren't suitable for on-water activities, we'll conduct theory sessions.
  • To participate in this training, you need to be a junior member of RQYS.

We ask all sailors to join Stack Team App in their appropriate fleets so our coaches can send notices and information. We also recommend joining our facebook group 'RQYouthSquad' as we also share information on this page that can differ from Stack Team App.

Program Focus:

Following the structure and instruction in learn-to-sail programs. Green Fleet is an introduction to coaching and learning to train.

Green Fleet promotes practicing the fundamental skills of sailing, introduces some foundation race skills through training activities in an environment that is enjoyable, without a competition focus.

During the Program sailors are encouraged to take part in freesail activity, and to trial a variety of boats, boards, and other club related activity through age appropriate design.
