Big Boys Toys

Published Sun 28 Feb 2021

This weekend was the annual Big Boys Toys expo with hobbies and interests from Remote Control through to Monster Trucks on show. The AWA represented model aircraft in Western Australia with both Rotorcross and West Coast Multirotors flying the Perth drone racing banner. We had a drone racing simulator courtesy of Terry and West Coast, as well as DVR and race footage from both clubs displayed across TV's and an info booth built by our pilot and treasurer, OrangeFly.
A consistent stream of interested people passed the stand, checking out the fast paced drone flying, having a go in the FPV goggles and inspecting the racing drones on display. We had the fortune of sharing the tent with some very impressive remote control planes, helicopters and and jets, including the world's largest scale model jumbo jet. This massive model had four jet turbines and weighed as much as a person when fuelled up!

A massive thanks to AWA and WCMR for inviting us along to share our passion, and to anyone we met at the expo, we hope to see you at the club for a raceday, or casual fly day!
