Rotorcross Perth and WCMR Representing drone racing in Perth and western Australia this weekend at the Big Boys Toys Expo

A long break since our last Pro race day, the gamble with the weather paid off with a tight as track created by Craig "OrangeFly" inspired by the childhood game mousetrap, it made a mess of many pilots today, from ring gates to drop gates the small layout separated the groups early.

Another sizzler at our Pro Race Day last Sunday, we had the Rox organizers pushing for a tight schedule to beat the heat. Their prayers were answered with Sharon “blondeangel” as Race Director (this woman can heard cats!) and the crack of dawn Track Builders Cody “steel”, Terrence “T”, Paul “pav”, Chris “chrisp”, Ceejay “cJay” setting up the voted in Ting Ting track by “steel” with the 2 storey tower featured in nats the star obstacle coming into the finish line.

The first race rounds of 2019 were defined by the festive period, with summer hear we found our pilots alot more relaxed than previous rounds. RSVP’s were slow though on the day pilots banter and conversations catching up on life’s event dominated the usual technical talk. The start of the ROX 2019 Season for Rookies saw a fresh start with beaming sunshine a change from the recent winter weather. Our Rookie champions were scarce on the day, however the addition of some new pilot prospects in Jordan, Matthew and Anthony with the return of Park and Nicholas “hekatonkheires” made for a day of surprises. Welcome to new member Nathan who completed laps despite it being his 2nd FPV flight and only 2nd week flying.

24 pilots for the day, with top seeded waffleFPV absent the Pro pilots had an opportunity to get some juicy points. Last minute scratchings of CptKirkus and ChipFPV from Pilot class. Though we had Mr_G and CJay debut in their first ROX Pilot Class race.

Renowned FPV pilots Triz (Eastside) and Timmytron (CMRC) are in Perth to check out WA and will be ripping it up @ Rotorcross

Weather had won the “rain” league over the last couple months postponing this decider round not once, but twice! The build up in Pro class could not have been greater with the prize of return air flights to Korea, accommodation and entry to the International Drone Sports Competition in Yeongwol, Korea on Oct 27th to 29th with fellow state winners from around the country in the FPVR.org Winter Season.
