This is a fun way for people over the age of 18yrs to learn the basic skills of rowing, gain some fitness in the outdoors and meet people.
The course is usually held on a Saturday or Sunday morning at 7am and goes for 8-10 consecutive weeks.
You will learn the basic rowing action, how to move and handle all equipment correctly and safely, and at the completion of the course be able to row in a four person boat (quad).
When you are doing a Learn to Row course/session please note the following:
What to bring:
- Clothing - fitted t-shirt and bike pants (baggy clothing can get caught)
- Socks - you must wear socks or soft-soled reef shoes in boats
- Sun protection - hat, sunscreen and sunglasses are required as you will be on the water for approximately 2hrs each session
- Water bottle -plastic bottle, NOT metal
The following video demonstrates the preferred technique on the ergo that is the same as when rowing in a boat.
Upon completion of the LTR course, participants have the option of continuing in a transition program where independent rowing is developed so that you can then move into competitive or social rowing membership options.
