A Short Range Operator Certificate of Proficiency is a prerequisite for all commercial qualifications. It is also required for all who use marine VHF radios and is strongly recommended for others pursuing recreational maritime training.

This course delivered over 2 evening sessions will cover all facets of the Short Range Operator Certificate of Proficiency (SROCP - VHF radio).

Our instructors focus on practical, real radio work. You will have the chance to do practical radio work so you have the confidence, skills, and experience to engage in radio dialogue comfortably and competently.

The certificates are required to own and operate a marine radio, or to supervise an unqualified operator making transmissions on your behalf.

VHF and HF radios are the only universal, reliable, forms of marine communications available and to use these radios a license is required.

The course will cover both licenses.

Also on the AMC website, there is a 148-question revision quiz. The 50 questions that will be on the exam are randomly taken from these.
