A Long Range Operator Certificate of Proficiency is a prerequisite for all commercial qualifications. It is also required for all who use marine VHF and MF/HF radios and is strongly recommended for others pursuing recreational maritime training.
This course delivered over 2 evening sessions will cover all facets of the Short Range Operator Certificate of Proficiency (SROCP - VHF radio), or Long Range Operator Certificate of Proficiency (LROCP - HF radio). Both courses are operated concurrently, with the HF program requiring participants to stay back for an extra half hour on day 1 and day 2.
Our instructors focus on practical, real radio work. You will have the chance to do practical radio work so you have the confidence, skills, and experience to engage in radio dialogue comfortably and competently.
The certificates are required to own and operate a marine radio, or to supervise an unqualified operator making transmissions on your behalf.
VHF and HF radios are the only universal, reliable, forms of marine communications available and to use these radios a licence is required.
The course will cover both licenses.
Also on the AMC website, there is a 148-question revision quiz. The 50 questions that will be on the exam is randomly taken from these.
