Coaching is an integral part of our junior sailing program at Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club (RFBYC). We recognise our coaches play a crucial role in assisting with the positive development of our young sailors. In addition, coaches help to create a safe and fun learning environment for junior sailing. This is our priority.

Our Coaching Program is comprehensive, accommodating multiple fleets on a weekly basis. The Coaching budget is currently a generous $100,000+.  This figure has steadily grown to this level over recent years as participation numbers have increased. To help offset some of the costs involved in running a coaching program for our junior and youth sailors, the implementation of a coaching fee was agreed by Sailing and General Committee.

Coaching fees will be applicable for junior (under 18 years) and youth (under 23 years) sailors who attend weekly fleet training sessions effective from 11 October as follows:

• Monday – Lasers (1600 – 1900)
• Wednesday – 29ers (1600 – 1900)
• Thursday – Windsurfing (1600 – 1900)
• Friday – Optimists & O’pen Skiff (Intermediate/Open 1600 – 1900)
• Friday – Mixed (1600 – 1900)
• Sunday – Green & Orange (0900 – 1200)

Any short notice changes to the above days/times will be notified via the Teams App.  For instructions on how to download the Team App, please click here.  In the event of inclement weather, in most cases the session will go ahead with onshore activities implemented.

Coaching will continue to be inclusive of membership during Sunday Club racing and regattas.

Coaching Fee Criteria:

• Fees for weekly coaching sessions will be split into two seasons as follows:

• Summer (October – April) - $140 per sailor
• Winter (May – September) - $100 per sailor

• Members wishing to participate in weekly Fleet Coaching Sessions will be required to register via the RevSports on-line system.
• The Coaching fee will appear on members October and May statements. 
• New members joining the fleet coaching sessions, part way through the season will be charged on a pro-rata basis.
• New members to the fleet will be eligible to attend up to 2 complimentary coaching sessions before a fee is applicable.
