Who should do this course?

The Youth Racing Squad course is designed for participants who have completed OutThere 3, Youth Challenge and Youth Skills and Drill and are looking to continue their club sailing journey beyond the learn to sail programs to learn about racing.

What About a boat?

This course will be conducted in the Club’s Quest dinghies. A rental fee of $350 pa is charged for use of the boats and sails.

Course Outcome

The Youth Racing Squad is designed to facilitate ongoing learning and provide a more individualised progression pathway. Without the restrictions of tight curriculums and timelines, this group is designed to foster sailors into racing in the Stonehaven Cup. Sailors do not pass or fail this course but rather continue to get support tailored to racing.

It is our aim that after a few sessions in the youth racing squad, sailors will be competent enough to partake in the RBYC Sunday afternoon coaches racing and eventually confident enough to race as an RBYC race squad at regattas around the bay including the Stonehaven Cup.
