Course Overview
This course is aimed at children aged 7-12 years old and builds foundational skills essential for sailing. Fun and Adventure encourages a love for sailing with games based activities and lots of different educational activities in and around the water.

- 7-12 years-old
Who should do this course?
This course is designed for participants who wish to have fun and learn the basics of sailing through games on and off the water.
Course Outcome
The completion checklist for fun and adventure is:
- Dress appropriately for sailing
- Learn wind awareness and read forecasts
- Tie - Figure 8, reef, bowline, half hitch
- Rules -Avoid, Port/starboard, windward/leeward and chain of rights
- Name all the parts of the boat
- Rig without help
- Use tiller extension with microphone grip
- Correctly tack and gybe
- Identify the no go zone and get out without help
- Learn the points of sail and trim to match complete
- Figure 8 course (tack and gybe)
- Go around a triangle course
- Complete a 360 and 720 degree turn
- Open water swim 50m in lifejacket
- Capsize and recover without help
- Demonstrate care and respect for boats and coaches
Once sailors can confidently demonstrate the above competencies they can move up to our Junior Skills and Drills training group!
