QUT Sport Tech Challenge 2024
The QUT Sport Tech Challenge returns for 2024, hosted at QUT Gardens Point campus on Saturday, 7 September.
This year's event will see sport, virtual sport and esports come together for an exciting day of competition and activities for local high schools. The competitions will include:
- A Rocket League tournament
- Virtual cycling event
- Virtual motorsport competition
- Just Dance tournament
- Virtual rowing
- Interactive sport technology displays and activations
Students will be able to interact with the latest in sport technology and gain an understanding of the esports and virtual sport industries and opportunities. The Challenge will also be broadcasted live to QUT Sport social media, with opportunities for students to commentate the games and produce the stream.
Event Information
Date: Saturday, 7 September 2024
Time: 8:30am for a 9:00am start, 5:30pm event conclusion
Location: QUT Gardens Point Campus, Brisbane City
Information regarding attending the QUT campus and match schedules will be sent to schools post registration, closer to the event date.
Competition Format
Schools will be allocated a pool for the day, with that pool competing against each other in every activity.
There will be girls and boys events for rowing and cycling. Motorsport, Rocket League and Dance will be mixed events.
For each event, the winner of the pool will progress to a finals round. The winner of the finals round will be the overall winner for that activity.
School team's will be allocated points based on their finishing result in their pool and/or finals bracket.
The school with the most points at the end of the day will be crowned the Sport Tech Challenge 2024 Winner.
Activities
Online Competition
For schools unable to attend the QUT Gardens Point campus, a online competition will be run alongside the day, with chances to compete against the schools on campus.
This competition includes:
- 3v3 Rocket League
- 3v3 Just Dance
Schools will need access to relevant consoles depending on the game, and access to Microsoft Teams.

Registrations and Fees
Registrations for schools is open now! Schools can register groups for attendance on the day, and individually register teams or students for each event.
Cost for entry to the day and access to all virtual sport and esports competitions is $160. Schools will be invoiced post registration and payment is due prior to event day.
