Join our esports community
QUT operates National and International events which facilitate opportunities for students to undertake immersive volunteering experiences, fulfil internships and placements, and develop first class skills in technology. Regardless of whether you’re looking for a career in esports or another technology related field, QUT’s esports program, arena and studio can take you there.
What you can learn:
- esports professional practice and induction training
- esports broadcasting, production methods and techniques
- sports commentary, event hosting and stream moderation
- officiating esport practices, processes and risk management
- coaching and team management skills.
These process and techniques are industry leading and high school students can access parts of these resources through the High School Program.
As a student at QUT or community member, you can enjoy a range of esports events and opportunities.

High School Esports
QUT Sport will host five (5) high school esports tournaments at QUT's Garden Point Campus across 2024, Our high school program provides students with a competitive esports environment, a creative industries and technical production experience, as well as focusing on online wellbeing and safety skills. Mentored by our esports professionals in our arena and production facilities, students can participate in the competition as players or in esports industry roles officiating, live streaming, content moderation and sports commentary.

Oceanic League of Legends Intervarsity (Division 1, Division 2 and Women's)

Since 2019 QUT Sport hosts esports athletes from universities across Australia and New Zealand in the QUT Intervarsity Competition for League of Legends developing into competitive Divisions 1, 2 and Women's Competition. This high-level competition gives you a chance to compete on the national level and strengthens competitive spirit between universities. The program has now titled Oceanic League of Legends Intervarsity (Division 1, Division 2 and Women's).

QUT Esports Academy & Scholarship (Rising Sport (Esports) Scholarships)
The QUT Esports Academy provides you with a consolidated pathway towards becoming a professional esports player. By joining the academy, you are provided with professional performance coaching, fitness and nutrition support, academic support under the Elite Athlete Program, access to our state-of-the-art esports facilities, and opportunities to compete at local, national and international levels.
If you're an esports athlete, you may be eligible for a QUT Rising Sports Scholarship. Applicant information can be found via the QUT Website!
