Join our esports community

QUT operates national and international events which facilitate opportunities for students to undertake immersive working and volunteering experiences. Regardless of whether you’re looking for a career in esports or another technology related field, QUT’s esports program, arena and studio can take you there.

What you can learn:

  • esports professional practice and induction training
  • esports broadcasting, production methods and techniques
  • sports commentary, event hosting and stream moderation
  • officiating esport practices, processes and risk management
  • coaching and team management skills.

As a student at QUT or community member, you can enjoy a range of esports events and opportunities.

High School Esports

Each year QUT Sport hosts an array of high school esports tournaments at QUT's Garden Point Campus. Our high school program provides students with a competitive esports environment, technical production experience and online wellbeing and safety skills. Mentored by our esports professionals in our arena and production facilities, students can participate in the competition as players or in esports industry roles officiating, live streaming, content moderation and sports commentary.

Oceanic League of Legends Intervarsity

Since 2019, QUT Sport has hosted esports athletes from universities across Australia and New Zealand in the Oceanic League of Legends Intervarsity competition. This high-level competition gives students a chance to compete on the national level and strengthens competitive spirit between universities. The program is made up of a Division 1 to 3 competitions and a league for teams of women and underrepresented genders in esports.

QUT Esports Academy & Scholarships

The QUT Esports Academy provides students with a consolidated pathway towards becoming a professional esports player. By joining the academy, students may access professional performance coaching, fitness and nutrition support, academic support under the Elite Athlete Program, access to our state-of-the-art esports facilities, and opportunities to compete at local, national and international levels.

If you're an esports athlete, you may be eligible for a QUT Rising Sports Scholarship. Applicant information can be found via the QUT Website!
