World Athletics Referee Education and Certification System (WARECS)

Step 1 - contact anthony.curry@qldathletics.org.au to express an interest. 

Step 2 - head to World Athletics E-Learning. There are two options to start. 

  1. Apprentice Level - great for Parents, Teachers and anyone interested in Athletics.
  2. National Athletics Referee - this is the first step to becoming an accrediated Referee. 

Step 3 - complete a mininum of three days of practical across Track, Jumps and Throws at a State Championship or higher. This requires sign off from the Competition Director, Referee or Technical Delegate. 

Step 4 - give the completed form to the QA office so we can send to World Athletics so you can recieve your certificate. 

Step 5 - keep officiating when you can at State and National level (with mentoring from current Bronze, Silver and Gold Referees in QLD) and move (or stay) through the pathway at your own pace.
