Queensland Throws Festival
Athletics Australia in conjunction with Queensland Athletics is hosting the inaugural Queensland
Throws Festival. We are opening expressions of interest for athletes and coaches interested in
attending. Priority will be given to National level representative athletes initially.

January 12-14

Queensland Academy of Sport, Brisbane
Age Groups
U17* – Open (Born 2007 onwards)
*May be open to yougner age groups if demand allows.
Purpose
To bring together the Australian throws community to train, learn and share.
Theme
Building the athleticism to throw far
Format
Athletes will train alongside some of Australia’s best athletes and coaches in their disciplines.
Activities will include technical throws sessions and supplementary training to develop specific
capacities such as Med ball throws, mobility, jumps and strength training. There will be a
competition opportunity for certain events at the QA Shield Meet on Sat 14 th .
Schedule
Thursday/Friday 12+13th – Technical throws training, Supplementary training e.g. Strength +
Mobility, Athlete Q+A’s, Coach Roundtables, Throws Specific Education Seminars
Saturday 14th – Optional Competition at the Cathy Freeman Shield. Men’s Shot Put, Men’s Javelin,
Women’s Hammer, Women’s Discus Or Training competition (not certified) or technical/strength
training session.
Fee
$150 includes 3x facility access, lunches, snacks + throws festival t-shirt
