We have discovered by allowing members to sign in their guests (as a +1, +2 etc), we do not comply with our insurance obligations as it is not possible for a guest to "sign" the waiver. The Open Sports IT team are currently working on an update to "fix" this problem, but unfortunately it seems some way off at this point.
As a result we have changed the settings on our "Events" pages which will now prevent members to sign in friends/family as "Guests".
We want to continue to encourage and welcome new people to our game. Our only work around (in the short term) is for your guest/s to to sign up to Open Sports and join our Port Stephens "Group".
This can be done prior to the Event (by downloading the App), or scanning the "Event QR code" on the Court Host's phone upon arrival at the courts (and completing the sign-up process) providing there are positions still available to play.
There is another legal implication with respect to Junior Players (under 18yrs) which needs further investigation. This relates to the signing of "electronic waivers" when they sign up/join and provide payment details to Open Sports. In order to comply with the PANSW/PAA "Child Safeguard Policy" all minors MUST have a Parent or Guardian in attendance at ALL times while their charges are playing. It is envisaged that the Parents/Guardians will sign the waiver on behalf of their Child.
A copy of the PANSW/PAA "Child Safeguard Policy" can be found on our website under "Links & Resources". All members are encouraged to have a look at this document. Quick link: PAA Child Safeguarding Policy
We thank you in advance for your understanding and continued support.
