A junior class of boat which is sailed by a helm and a crew. The Cadet is the most popular junior/youth sailing dingy in South Australia. There are also Cadet fleets in Tasmania, Victoria and New South Wales.
The PLYC has had a very successful fleet of the International Cadet over the last 10 years with some qualifying in the Australian Worlds Team.
The sailors are expected to live up to the Cadet oath:-
“As a Cadet member of the International Cadet Class I promise to observe the class rules and at all times to further the aims of the class.
I shall do my best to foster understanding and friendship throughout the world.
I shall never attempt to win a race by any means other than fair sailing.”
