Topics covered in the online training are:

Part 1: Introductory Training (IT).

  1. Code of Conduct,
  2. Primary Responsibilities,
  3. Score Keeping,
  4. Breaks in Play Procedures,
  5. Common Situation, and
  6. If time permits - discussion of new rules for 2022

If you are interested in attending, please click on the the register button or contact us at officiating@pickleballaus.org

Please note: Being a referee provides individuals with an opportunity to get involved with competitive events, enjoy the tournament atmosphere, and provide an invaluable service. Whilst we hope that many participants will take up Refereeing games at all levels of competition, there is no expectation that by doing the course you are committed in any way.

The advantage of this training is being able to ask questions of an experienced Referee and gain clarifications before continuing on your own referee journey. Check out the Referee Quick Start Video:

To be a referee, it is not essential that you play Pickleball, but a thorough understanding of the rules is necessary. For further details and if you are interested in attending, please contact us at officiating@pickleballaus.org

Part 2- Further Technical Training (FFT) will be offered in February.

  • Less Common Situations
  • Disciplinary Process
  • Working with Line Judges
  • Review Rule changes – Q & A
