PAA Officiating Team

                             David Jay - Head of PAA Officiating 

David plays pickleball socially and solely for enjoyment. He is responsible for the development and delivery of the accreditation programme for pickleball referees in Australia. 

David naturally fell into this role with PAA following his career as an interntational rugby league referee and as an  ARL and NRL referee. Following his retirement, David was appointed as a referees coach for the graded squad of referees. He was then tasked with the development and delivery of an accreditation programme for the coaching of match officials throughout Australia and New Zealand.

Outside of sport, David is the Executive Chairman of Armstrong Kennedy International. David has worked as a C-Suite (including as CEO) Executive of a number of leading companies. He holds many qualificaitions, including an MBA and is a seasoned company director.

              Margot Treddinick - Secretariat of PAA Officiating 

I saw a clip about pickleball on ABC TV in January 2018, I started playing the next day! I was a founding member of the Noosa Pickleball Club and I have been an active committee member for the last two years. 

I have always been keen to learn new skills and gain knowledge and I attained the IPTPA level 1 coaching certificate and I also participated in the first online referee course from the USA. Soon after completing this, I was coordinating the zoom referee training between the US and Australia/New Zealand. In August 2022 PAA announced their accreditation plan for Australian referees and I am proud to of been an integral part of creating this.  

Encouraging newly trained referees, being inolved in the tournament atmosphere and helping people understand the rules is a great award.
