Fresh off the announcement of the 2022 Australian Volleyball League schedule, Volleyball NSW just announced open trails for the inaugural Senior Phoenix program. After two years off, the top league of indoor volleyball in Australia promises to be action packed and the NSW Phoenix program is ready for the challenge.
Beyond athletes, VNSW recently hired Chris Todd from the QAS to take on the new role of Head Coach and Technical Educator in state. His experience as a professional coach and his progressive ideas on the game have already made significant impact on program athletes and coaches within the short Junior program. This new appointment will evolve Volleyball in NSW and will set a new vision and standard for our state.
Senior Phoenix will invite 28+ athletes per gender to train for 2022. Athletes selected to the Senior Phoenix Squad will commence refular training in September.
Within the Senior Phoenix squad will sit the AVL playing team. The AVL team will train combined witht he rest of the Senior Phoenix squad and have additional training to prepare to compete in the Australian Volleyball League (AVL).
AVL will have 6 rounds of competition October through November and Championship Finals December 2-4 on the Gold Coast. Other members of the Senior Phoenix squad who are not selected to compete in AVL will be encouraged to participate in other Senior Phoenix activities which will include scrimmages, indoor tournaments and beach volleyball tournaments
