Pegasus Hockey Club was founded in 1975 with the club included players from the recently disbanded School of Mines side. The club started with an A1 Men’s team and an U13 Boys’ team. It its second year Pegasus expanded, fielding an A2 Men’s team and an U17 Boy’s team.
In 1989, a women’s team was formed through a merger with Veterans Hockey Club.
The first premiership from a Pegasus team came in 1977, from the A2 Men. Pegasus got off to a strong start with premiership successes in the late 70’s and through the 90’s, and the A1 Men’s and A1 Women’s teams dominated through the first half of the 21st century.
