Thynne + Macartney Bush Boats
The Thynne + Macartney Bush Boats have hit the water in Longreach, Cunnamulla, Chinchilla, Toowoomba and on the Brisbane River (the Barcoo Boys). All the club crews are on notice that these crews have been training hard, both in the boat and the gym. The Chinchilla crew are sponsored by and working out at Max Fitness. While they are still learning the finer points of the rowing stroke they will be dangerous in the sprint events. The Cunnamulla crew are supported by the Paroo Shire Council and are currently the most Outback crew, being more than 800km from the coast. The Barcoo Boys are made up of the Churchie 1988 alumni and sponsored by Laguna Bay Food & Ag.

State of Origin Sprint
This year we are holding the inaugural State of Origin sprint during the lunchbreak on Saturday at Barcaldine. We will select 4 men and 4 women (out of a hat) to represent: Queensland, New South Wales and all the rest. Selection is based on your state of birth. While our incorruptible handicapper will oversee the selection, there may be an opportunity for late selection changes due to injury (if you know what we mean)! Our resident trophy maker, John Simmers from Simmers Violins, is hard at work making an "oar"some State of Origin shield to rival the real one!
Bush Boat Cup
We will also host the first Thynne + Macartney Bush Boat Cup. This full throttle, oar smashing, drag race will pit the bush crews against each other. The big test will be for the coxes with 4 boats all attacking the Barcaldine track at the one time.
