The Ovens & Murray Water Polo Association are proud to welcome Shannon Gould as the most recent Life Member to our association and we would like to invite our community to come together to celebrate this incredible achievement.
Shannon has played in the O&MWPA A Grade Men's competition for 34 consecutive years. During this time Shannon has not only won numerous premierships, he has been recognised as the A Grade Men's Best & Fairest and Highest Goal Scorer on multiple occasions.
In addition, Shannon has competed in Wagga, Canberra, represented WPNSW and WPVIC Open Men's state teams, and has represented at an Australian Country Water Polo level 3 times.
Shannnon is a renowned WPNSW Level 2 coach and has achieved many successes as a coach, including:
- Sharks - A,B & C Men's, A Grade Women, U14 & U16 Boys
- Ovens & Murray - Senior Men's and Women's (Districts & Canberra Cup), Masters. U12, U14, U16 and U18 Boys WPNSW State Championships, Nationals and AYC Tournaments
- WPVIC Men's Open Team
- WPNSW Open Men's A and B grade teams
- Australian Country Water Polo
- Australian Country Men's Teams Assistant Coach
Shannon is a leader and an exceptional role model in our sport. He is a highly skilled and well respected senior referee with 30 years experience. Shannon holds a WPNSW Level 1 referee accreditation and has supported our sport in this space at many high level events including WPNSW Country tournaments, National AYC tournaments and WPNSW State Championships. He continues to support our local Ovens & Murray competition by remaining part of our referee cohort and mentoring our young referees with his wealth of knowledge and experience.
Shannon contributes significantly to the sport of water polo and has held many executive board committee and subcomittee positions over the decades. These include:
- Sharks - President, Vice President and Committee Member
- O&M - President, Vice President and Comittee Member
- Australian Country Water Polo - President and Vice President
Shannon has been recognised by his club as a Sharks Life Member and we are proud to acknowledge his contribution to our sport as an Ovens & Murray Life Member.
We thank Shannon for all that he has given to water polo over the years. We have all gained enormously from his knowledge, leadership and love of the game.
