EPIRBS AND PLB's
You must register your 406 EPIRB and PLBs with AMSA. Registration is done online at beacons.amsa.gov.au
A copy of the registration dates must be kept on board.
It is the responsibility of an owner/skipper/person in charge, to ensure that all beacons being used by yacht and crew are registered with AMSA with the correct information.
There is no cost to register with AMSA. Where either EPIRBs or PLBs are hired commercially or borrowed from other boats they MUST be re-registered in the boat or person’s name that is using them, even if it is only for a day or two. All 406 MHz EPIRBs and PLB’s shall be GPS capable.
