Club History
In 1960, members of the Nunawading Swimming Club established a water polo division. By 1961, they had entered a Men’s “B” grade team into the Victorian Water Polo Association. The first women’s team was introduced in 1967, winning the women’s “B” grade championship in their debut season. Over the years, the club has grown to compete at the top levels in both men’s and women’s State League 1, with many juniors representing Victoria and two even representing Australia.
Yarra Plenty Water Polo, originally Balwyn-Yarra Water Polo, was founded in 1985. After relocating pools and changing names, the club secured its first premierships in “E” grade men and “C” grade women in 1986. Since then, they have won additional premierships and have had players represent both Victorian and Australian teams.
In 1996, Nunawading and Yarra Plenty combined their teams to form competitive State League 1 squads. This merger set a precedent in the sport for creating stronger, consolidated clubs, offering a pathway from junior levels to State League 1.
Fundraising

At our club, we actively participate in Bunnings BBQ fundraisers throughout the year. These events are crucial for supporting ourprograms and activities. We encourage all club members to volunteer their time to assist with these events whenever possible.
Additionally, we welcome sponsorships from businesses to help support our club. Sponsorships play a significant role in enabling us to continue offering top-notch training and competition opportunities for our athletes.
