North West Lightning Academy

Following the success of last year’s North West Lightning Academy, we will be running a similar program prior to the start of the 2021 hockey season. Return to Hockey Guidelines which will be followed at each venue with a COVID Safety Plan operating that incorporates each shire’s guidelines.

To ensure the sustainability of the program, a minimum of 15 participants is required at each venue. Expressions of interest are required by Wednesday 11th November .

 

Key Information

  • Open to players born in 2003 – 2010
  • Commencing the week of November 15th
  • Venues include Bendigo, Dimboola, Mildura and St Arnaud (pending numbers)
  • Training on Sunday mornings from 10am - 12pm in Bendigo, Dimboola and St Arnaud, and midweek in Mildura from 6pm - 8pm
  • 8-week program with 2 match days
  • Proposed dates 2020: November 15th, 22nd, 29th and December 6th
  • Proposed dates 2021: January 31st, February 7th, 21st, and 28th
  • Approximate cost between $175 and $200
  • Family discount of $10 for second and successive children
  • Training shirt included in the cost
  • Match days are proposed for December 6th (or February 7th) and February 28th

The North West Lightning Academy will enhance a participant’s chances of selection for the Junior State Championships by being coached by JSC coaches and selectors. Players intending to trial for JSC are strongly encouraged to take part in the program.

 

 

Coach Information

Local coaches are set to benefit through the program too. The Head Coach will mentor local coaches, who will then deliver the sessions at each venue. Just like the players, any coaches wishing to coach at JSC are encouraged to become part of the program.  All coaches are paid an honorarium. We are seeking expressions of interest for the Head Coach and Program Coaches. Job descriptions can be found at the following link:
