North West Lightning Academy 2025
Following the success of previous years’ North West Lightning Academy, we will be running a similar program prior to the start of the 2025 hockey season. The program is designed to increase a player’s skill base, game knowledge, meet other players in their association and zone and to kickstart season 2025. We believe the Academy offers a great opportunity for players to get to know one another before the JSC trials in April.
The five-week program is run at satellite venues across the North West Lightning zone and includes two game days where all players meet to play a variety of games within their age groups. Players will be exposed to all coaches at the game days, enabling them to learn from a wealth of experience. To ensure the sustainability of the program, a minimum of 12 participants is required at each satellite venue.
Key Information
- Open to players born in 2007 – 2014
- Venues include Bendigo, Dimboola, Mildura, St Arnaud and Shepparton
- Training on Sundays from 9am – 11am
- 5-week program including 2 match days
- Training dates: February 9th,23rd, March 16th
- Game dates: February 25th and March 17th in Bendigo from 11am – 2pm
Coach Information
Local coaches are set to benefit through the program too. The Head Coach will mentor local coaches, who will then deliver the sessions at each venue. Just like the players, any coaches wishing to coach at JSC are encouraged to become part of the program. All coaches are paid an honorarium ($35/hour) and have the opportunity to be accredited.
