North West Lightning Academy

Following the success of previous years’ North West Lightning Academy, we will be running a similar program prior to the start of the 2023 hockey season. The program is designed to increase a player’s skill base, game knowledge, meet other players in their association and zone and to kickstart season 2023. This year we welcome players from the Goulburn Valley Hockey Association who will be joining our zone for the Junior State Championships. We are excited by this amalgamation and believe the Academy offers a great opportunity for players to get to know one another before the JSC trials in April.

 

The five-week program is run at satellite venues across the North West Lightning zone and includes two game days where all players meet to play a variety of games within their age groups. Players will be exposed to all coaches at the game days, enabling them to learn from a wealth of experience. To ensure the sustainability of the program, a minimum of 12 participants is required at each satellite venue.

Key Information

• Open to players born in 2005 – 2012
• Venues include Bendigo, Dimboola, Echuca, Mildura, St Arnaud and Shepparton
• Training on Sundays from 10am – 12pm (Wed evening for Mildura)
• 5-week program including 2 match days
• Training dates: February 5^th, 12^th, March 5^th
• Game dates: February 26^th and March 19^th in Bendigo from 11am – 2pm
• Cost: $90 (HV have generously sponsored this program)
• Family discount of $10 for second and successive children
• A discount of $10 for members of any 2023 HV or Rising Star Academy
• Training shirt included but any previous members not requiring a shirt can reduce the cost by $40 

The North West Lightning Academy will enhance a participant’s chances of selection for the Junior State Championships by being coached by JSC coaches and selectors. Players intending to trial for JSC are strongly encouraged to take part in the program.
